Can MEDERMA® for Kids be used for atrophic scars?

MEDERMA® for Kids can be used on atrophic scars, such as acne and chicken pox scars for 3 year olds and older. MEDERMA® for Kids may help to smooth and soften the edges of the pox mark but will not cause the indented area to fill in. By smoothing the edges, the mark may become less noticeable.

Who should use MEDERMA® for Kids?

Although anyone can use MEDERMA® for Kids, it was specifically formulated for use on those above aged 3. It has a scent and purple colour that goes clear when you rub it in. All MEDERMA® products should be used as directed. If you have experienced reactions to skincare products before, please read the ingredients listed on the package before using. If you are unsure whether MEDERMA® for Kids is right for you or your children, please contact a healthcare professional for advice.

Does MEDERMA® for Kids stain fabrics?

Like many non-staining products, MEDERMA® for Kids will not stain cotton or polyester material or blends. But it could stain delicate fabrics, including silk, leather, suede and others.

How long should I use MEDERMA® for Kids?

For optimal results, use the product as directed and apply MEDERMA® for Kids 3 times a day, every day, for 8 weeks on new scars and 3 times a day, every day for 3 to 6 months on old scars. You can use MEDERMA® for Kids on children aged 3 and above. Massage gently until the product is absorbed. If peeling or flaking occurs, you may be using too much. Try using less of the product to achieve the best possible result. When using MEDERMA® for Kids, do not apply it to the broken skin.

My child has just had surgery and still has stitches – when can they start using MEDERMA® for Kids?

You can begin using MEDERMA® for Kids as soon as your child’s wound has closed or their stitches have been removed. MEDERMA® is not intended for use on open wounds. If a scab has formed, wait until it falls off. While there is still a scab or stitches present, keep the wound clean and covered.

My child accidentally ingested MEDERMA® for Kids, what should I do?

MEDERMA® for Kids is not intended for oral consumption. Wipe or rinse out the mouth and contact your healthcare professional immediately.
